Project Overview

Developed a concealed, retractable phone-mounting mechanism integrated into a premium smart-toilet concept. The design focused on seamless product integration, controlled deployment, comfortable viewing position, mechanical reliability, and maintaining a clean exterior appearance when retracted.

Design Challenge

The phone mount needed to become part of the product rather than an exposed accessory. The central challenge was to reconcile a comfortable viewing position during use with an unobtrusive exterior when the mechanism was retracted.

Controlled deployment and mechanical reliability were design priorities alongside the appearance of the surrounding smart-toilet concept.

Engineering Approach

The design work centered on the relationship between the concealed mechanism and the overall product form. The extended and retracted configurations were considered together so that deployment, viewing position and exterior integration remained connected design decisions.

The supplied concept views communicate the closed front panel and the extended support. They present the product integration without specifying the internal mechanism components.

Key Design Considerations

  • Concealment: integrate the phone mount into the exterior when retracted.
  • Controlled deployment: make the transition into the viewing position a central mechanism-design consideration.
  • Ergonomics: focus on a comfortable phone-viewing position.
  • Mechanical reliability: retain reliable operation as a design objective.
  • Product appearance: preserve the clean visual character of the premium bathroom concept.

Manufacturing / DFM Considerations

This case study covers concept-level mechanism integration. Material selection, manufacturing process and production validation are not specified in the project record. Mechanical reliability is presented as a design objective, not a measured test result.

Project Outputs
